Every product gets one first impression, and it happens faster than most teams think. Within the first few seconds a visitor has already formed a judgment about whether your software is fast, trustworthy, and worth their attention.
We treat that opening moment as a design problem in its own right. Before we style a single component, we ask: what is the one thing this screen needs to communicate, and what is everything else getting in the way of?
The answer is almost always less. Fewer competing calls to action, a clearer hierarchy, and copy that speaks to the outcome the visitor wants rather than the features we shipped. Negative space isn't empty — it's what lets the important thing land.
Performance is part of this too. A beautiful hero that arrives late has already lost. We budget for the first paint and the largest contentful element from the start, so the design and the speed are never in tension.
Get the first five seconds right and you earn the next five minutes. That's the whole game.
