A square PNG or SVG export of at least 512×512 gives the cleanest result.
Drop in one square image and get back everything a modern site needs: a real multi-resolution favicon.ico, PNGs at every size browsers ask for, an Apple touch icon, Android maskable icons, a filled-in web app manifest and the HTML to paste into your head. All generated in your browser.
What size should the source image be?
At least 512×512, and square. Icons are only ever scaled down here, so anything smaller will look soft at the larger sizes. A flat, high-contrast mark reads far better at 16 pixels than a detailed logo does.
Is the favicon.ico a real ICO file?
Yes. It is a genuine multi-resolution ICO bundling 16, 32 and 48 pixel images, built by writing the icon directory and PNG payloads directly. Many generators just rename a PNG, which works in some browsers and quietly fails in others.
What is a maskable icon?
Android launchers crop app icons into their own shape — a circle, a squircle, a rounded square. A maskable icon keeps its artwork inside a central safe zone so nothing important gets cut off, and fills the corners with a solid background. We generate those separately from your square icons.
Do I still need a favicon.ico in 2026?
It costs one small file and it is still what some crawlers, feed readers and older browsers request by default from the site root. Modern browsers will prefer the PNG entries you declare, so serving both is the safe answer.
Where do the files go?
Drop them all into your public or static directory at the site root, add the manifest as site.webmanifest, then paste the head snippet into your layout. The generated paths assume the root; adjust them if you serve icons from a subdirectory.
